This is the community wiki page for the gene LOC100495810 please feel free to add any information that is relevant to this gene that is not already captured elsewhere in Xenbase

nomenclature notes

the gene name for XB-GENEPAGE-989872 will remain “1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase homolog (inactive)” because, according to PMID: 11470512, this enzyme is predicted to be inactive in all animals (ie, the gene name is based on sequence homology rather than functional homology to the active plant enzyme).

12 JUNE 2023

After consultation with NCBI refSeq team, this gene has been renamed as it was misidentified in the v10 assembly as accs, when infact it is a duplication of an uncharacterized hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase family member gene.

Xenopus gene name changed for XB-GENEPAGE-989872 from accs 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase homolog (inactive) to LOC100495810, uncharacterized hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase family member gene 2.

Note that this gene is not found in X. laevis.

We have also removed the ACCS orthologs, and move of the X. laevis genes on this XB-GENEPAGE-989872 to a new gene page is in progress.

10 October, 2023

gene name changed from LOC100495810, uncharacterized hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase family member gene 2. to LOC100495810, hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase family member gene 2, dropping the uncharacterized
