Human name has changed for Entrez Gene: 7221. From transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 2, pseudogene to transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 2 (pseudogene)

The human TRPC2 gene has been re-annotated after it was examined in more detail in vertebrates by the NCBI RefSeq team. They wrote: "In vertebrates we've overlooked annotating the XNDC1 gene upstream of TRPC2 due to over-extension of the TRPC2 CDS (PMID: 21854574). The over-extension of the TRPC2 CDS arose in part because these two genes are pseudogenized in human while readthrough transcription occurs in mouse. "

Thus the Xenopus gene name for trpc2 (which follows human) has been updated, removing the "pseudogene" from official name, as it is a functional gene in Xenopus. The gene symbol is unchanged.
