Note that Xenopus carry this rab35 gene (which we believe to be the true ortholog of human RAB35) and an additional rab35-like gene, called rab35l, which may also be an ortholog of human RAB35. Further invesigation is needed to confirn whether rab35l gene representa an instance of gene duplication.
