nomenclature changes

Following review of this gene family by Leon Grayfer and his colleagues&students at George Washington University (with some additional input by Xenbase curators); 2 different clades of “cxcl8” genes/proteins have been described in Xenopus. See Hauser et al 2021 ( PubMed ID: 34489981 for more details)
There are 2 gene groups within each clade, and all genes are orthologs of human CXCL8.
cxcl8a genes/proteins both have a ELR (inflammatory chemokine) motif, cxcl8b genes/proteins lack the ELR motif.
The following nomenclature changes have been made.
1) XB-GENEPAGE-6257607 ( Entrez GeneIDs : 100498551 (X.trop); 100036815(Xla.L), 108706769(Xla.S)
Gene symbol/gene name updated, changed from cxcl8a chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 8a to cxcl8a.1, C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8a gene 1.
2) XB-GENEPAGE-5945946 ( Entrez GeneIDs: 100498234 (Xtrop) ; 100037000 (Xla.L) (note there is no model for Xla.S)
Gene symbol/ gene name updated, changed from “XB5945946 [provisional:cxcl8], provisional ortholog of C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8” to “cxcl8b.2, C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8b gene 2”
3) New gene page has been requested for “cxcl8a.2, C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8a gene 2”
