c1h4orf33

This is the community wiki page for the gene c1h4orf33. Feel free to add any information here that is relevant to this gene that is not already captured elsewhere on Xenbase.

Nomenclature updates

6/27/2019 this gene was changed to c4orf33.1. Conserved domains and BLAST hits confirm that this is not a prdm gene, and is actually a zinc finger.

08/23.2019

there are two c4orf33 genes in Xenopus (c4orf33.1.1 and c4orf33.1.2). The human gene may change its name, removing the gene 1 and gene 2 suffixes, but do not change the names in Xenopus/Xenbase.

20JAN2023

HGNC and NCBIs RefSeq team have recently renamed all non-human ORF genes. The new gene symbols reflect the orthology to the human gene, while starting with a prefix indicating location of the ORF on the Xenopus chromosomes (c#), then 'h#' for the human chromosome then the orf #. (e.g., gene symbol C11orf54 changed to c2h1orf54). Old human-ised 'orf' gene symbols are recorded as synonyms.

24APRIL2023

gene symbol was changed from c1h4orf33.1 to c1h4orf33 ( dropping the .1) to harmonize with orthologs and simplify computational data approaches, where the .1` plays havoc. Note that the eene name keeps the 'gene 1' suffix.
