This gene has been renamed changing from ''LOC100494466 asticin-like metalloendopeptidase family member'' to ''syt13, synaptotagmin 13'' after review by NCBI's RedSeq team David Webb, who noted that is was misidentified.
XB-GENE-955112 (GeneID:100496122, XP_002937348.3) was misnamed SYT13, while the true SYT13 ortholog in ''X. tropicalis'' is the adjacent gene GeneID: 100494466.
Both LOC100496122 and  LOC100495810 are also being renamed as they are  members of the hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase gene family.
Synteny is:    TP53I11< LOC< PRDM11> '''SYT13<''' LOC100496122(astl-like gene)< LOC100495810(astl-like)< LOC> ACCS< C11ORF96> c11orf96< alkbh3<

This gene was renamed as it was misidentified at teh Xenopus ''syt13'' gene.  It is actually orthologous to chicken gene GeneID: 423176 and is a member of the hatching enzyme/asticin-like metalloendopeptidase gene family. For now, it has a a generic LOC name LOC100496122. Further review compared to the 31 other ''Xenopus'' ''astacin-like metallo-endopeptidase'' genes by NCBI RefSeq and Xenbase will decide on a better gene symbol/name.
The true SYT13 ortholog in ''X. tropicalis'' is the adjacent gene GeneID: 100494466.
