nomenclature updates

19MAY2026 Xenopus gene nomenclature was updated, changing from ‘’slc14a2. solute carrier family 14 (urea transporter), member 2, to slc14a1, solute carrier family 14 member 1 (Kidd blood group)’’ following orthology assessment by NCBI and Xenbase.

We note that human SLC14A1 (is a short 13 exon protein) and SCL14a2 (is a much larger protein with 27 exons). These 2 genes are tandem/adjacent on chr18 in mammals, while only a single 11 exon geen is presnet in Xenopus, so is more likely the SLC14A1 ortholog- we agree to name change.
