nomenclature changes
9/13/20121
based on synteny analysis of 2 very similarly named genes, one on Chr6 and the other on chr 9., this gene has been changed from mcm6, minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 to mcm6.2 , minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 gene 2.
LIKEWISE the previously named mcm6.2 , minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 gene 2 has been changed to mcm6, minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 -as it represents the true ortholog of human MCM6 -see XB-GENEPAGE-962677.

XB-GENEPAGE-962677 (previously called mcm6.2) seems to be the true ortholog of Human MCM6 based on synteny.

Human genes are all on Chr 7, but dispersed over a rather wide distance, with no clear pattern: TNS3. //RAMP3 // HUS1 ..SUN3 ... C7orf57// ADCY1, but the HUS1 + C7orf57 motif is conserved.
Xenopus mcm6 genes are on Chr6.
