Hi HGNC,
I'd like your input on a PTTG1IP-like gene that is inconsistently annotated and named.

The paralogous gene, '''PTTG1IP''', is consistently found '''upstream of the SUMO3''' gene in Osteichthyes and a '''PTTG1IP-like''' gene is consistently found '''upstream of the CDK14''' gene in Osteichthyes.

However, in mammals this PTTG1IP-like gene is sometimes unannotated or is annotated as non-coding or as protein coding.

I'm '''confident this PTTG1IP-like gene is protein coding throughout Osteichthyes'''. So, I'd like your input on what it should be named (pituitary tumor-transforming gene 1 protein-interacting protein probably isn't appropriate).

I'd appreciate it if the curators at MGI, RGD, and Ensembl could look at this PTTG1IP-like gene and confirm that it's protein coding.

Hi HGNC, I'd like your input on a PTTG1IP-like gene that is inconsistently annotated and named.

The paralogous gene, PTTG1IP, is consistently found upstream of the SUMO3 gene in Osteichthyes and a PTTG1IP-like gene is consistently found upstream of the CDK14 gene in Osteichthyes.

However, in mammals this PTTG1IP-like gene is sometimes unannotated or is annotated as non-coding or as protein coding.

I'm confident this PTTG1IP-like gene is protein coding throughout Osteichthyes.

-DW

4.30.2020 HGNC, ZFIN, and NCBI agree that this gene should be called PTTG1IP2 and "PTTG1IP family member 2".

The following gene/species can have their official symbol updated to PTTG1IP2: human (GeneID: 102723899) mouse (MGI:2686532; GeneID: 381716) rat (RGD:9118001; GeneID: 103692048) chicken (GeneID: 420545) X.tropicalis (XB-GENEPAGE-5751720; GeneID: 496874) zebrafish (GeneID: 101886260)

15June 2020 Human symbol has changed for genepage ID: 5751720 From pttg1ip2 to LOC102723899, Xenopus name will remain unchanged, KEEPING THE AGREED UPON NAME, PTTG1IP family member 2.
