''Xenopus'' gene name | HGNC and NCBIs RefSeq team have recently renamed all non-human open reading frame (ORF) genes. The new ''Xenopus'' gene symbol syntax reflects the orthology to the human gene while starting with a prefix indictating location of the ORF on the ''Xenopus'' chromosome, i.e., the ''Xenopus'' chromosome number (c#), then 'h#' for the human chromosome number, then the same human 'orf #' as the orthologous gene. nomenclature changes
5DEC2022
HGNC and NCBIs RefSeq team have recently renamed all non-human open reading frame (ORF) genes. The new Xenopus gene symbol syntax reflects the orthology to the human gene while starting with a prefix indictating location of the ORF on the Xenopus chromosome, i.e., the Xenopus chromosome number (c#), then 'h#' for the human chromosome number, then the same human 'orf #' as the orthologous gene. Old human C'ORF gene symbols are recorded as synonyms.
Note that the 'X. tropicali's homolog for C5orf63 is on chromosome 1, while the X. laevis ortholog is on Chromosome 6L.
These genes are now represented on seperate gene pages, as they now have a different gene names and symbols, as follows:
X. tropicalis : c1h5orf63, chromosome 1 C5orf63 homolog on XB-GENEPAGE-6461374
X. laevis: c6h5orf63, chromosome 6 C5orf63 homolog L homeolog on XB-GENEPAGE-25919034

Xenopus gene name updated from glutaredoxin-like protein C5orf63 homolog to chromosome 6 C5orf63 homolog: this was a clerical error and was never an official/correct gene name for this gene.
