''Xenopus'' gene names changed, from ''opn6bl, visual pigment-like receptor peropsin 6b like'' to ''opn6b, visual pigment-like receptor peropsin 6b'' following the McFarland Labs usage, as they are the authority on this group of genes in ''Xenopus'', and the are almost identical to opn6b proteins in zebrafish, so no need for a 'like' suffix. .

This is the Xenbase wiki page for the Xenopus genes opn6b. Fee; free to record anything here about these genes a=thata are not recorded elsewhere on Xenbase.

nomenclature changes

The gene symbol and names for the opsin gens where updated, provisionally, replacing the LOC 100497987, visual pigment-like receptor peropsin with opn6bl, visual pigment-like receptor peropsin 6b like, which combines the X.tropicalis gene /protein name with the homology group assessed for the X.laevis L homeolog, which although thought to be a 'opsin 5' group member, aligns more closely with the opsin 6b group, and is very similar to the Zebrafish opsin 6b.
