'''TRIM21 - tripartite motif containing 21'''
This gene encodes a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The encoded protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein, which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. The RoSSA particle localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. RoSSA interacts with autoantigens in patients with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. Alternatively spliced transcript variants for this gene have been described but the full-length nature of only one has been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

TRIM21 - tripartite motif containing 21

This gene encodes a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The encoded protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein, which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. Alternatively spliced transcript variants for this gene have been described but the full-length nature of only one has been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

nomenclature changes

11.30.2020. This gene's name was corrected by removing human loci number from the gene name and gene symbol, following notification of the issue by NCBIs refseq coordinator (RSCOM-106).

Name changed from E3 ubiquitin/ISG15 ligase TRIM25-like 100490741 to E3 ubiquitin/ISG15 ligase TRIM25 like

Symbol changed from trim25l 100490741 to trim25l

30.09.2024

Xenopus gene name changed from 3 ubiquitin/ISG15 ligase TRIM25 like to TRIM21 tripartite motif containing 21 following NCBI orthology assertion, and conserved synteny between human and Xenopus [The TRIM21/trrim21 loci in both human and Xenopus are flanked by OR52 genes]

Xenopus Symbol changed from trim25l to trim21
