Based on DIOPT orthology analysis, NCBI's characterization and synteny, this gene name has been updated from LOC100489060 to a2m.2, alpha-2-macroglobulin gene 2 based on an apparent duplication upstream of a2m on X. tropicalis chromosome 7.
Note that the next adjacent gene/loci, LOC100488897, which may be a2m.3 in Xtrop., is currently called 'ovostatin', but has the same molecular function description as a2m and a2m.2.
