Xenopus gene symbol and name were updated, changing from LOC100495706, probable N-acetyltransferase 16 to nat16.3, N-acetyltransferase 16 gene 3.
The protein for the tropicalis gene matches the NAT16 homology group in >70 species ( using EggNog5.0) with very high confidence, and the protein has already been characterised at a nat16 ortholog.
There are several duplicates of nat16 in Xenopus, all on chr 3, separated only by a string of "histidine N-acetyltransferase" and "histidine N-acetyltransferase- like" gene models. As no gene symbol can be immediately applied to this latter genes, I am skipping them and naming this gene model 'gene 3' in the series for X. tropicalis,
