mcm6
This is the community wiki page for the gene mcm6 please feel free to add any information that is relevant to this gene that is not already captured elsewhere in Xenbase
nomenclature changes
9/13/20121
based on synteny analysis of 2 very similarly named genes, one on Chr6 and the other on chr 9., this gene has been changed from mcm6.2 , minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 gene 2 to mcm6, minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 as it likely represents the true ortholog of human MCM6.
LIKEWISE the previously named mcm6 , minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 has been changed to mcm6.2, minichromosome maintenance complex component 6 gene 2 as it does not show any conserved synteny with the human gene order.
synteny anaysis of the 2 mcm6 genes in Xenopus
XB-GENEPAGE-962677 (previously called mcm6.2) seems to be the true ortholog of Human MCM6 based on synteny.

XB-GENEPAGE-5870536 ( previously call mcm6) does not show a conserved gene pattern/conservation/ synteny with human, and has been renamed mcm6.2
Human genes are all on Chr 7, but dispersed over a rather wide distance, with no clear pattern: TNS3. //RAMP3 // HUS1 ..SUN3 ... C7orf57// ADCY1, but the HUS1 + C7orf57 motif is conserved.
Xenopus mcm6 genes are on Chr6.
