Three genes were annotated in the v10 assembly as il17a-like on the same section of Chromosome 5L. These have been provisionally given the names interleukin 17a gene 1 (il17a) , interleukin 17a gene 2 (il17a.2) and interleukin 17a gene 3 (il17a.3) by Xenbase.
This v10 gene model LOC121393569/il17a maps to the v9.1 model Xelaev18028216m.g and is flanked upstream by pkhd1.L
in an effort to simplify ortholog assignments across model organisms we refer to IL17A.1 as IL17A, dropping the .1 usually used for tandemly duplicated genes.
orthology
Each of the 3 Xenopus il17 genes are purported to be true orthologs of Human IL17, Entrez Gene: 3605.
