''Xenopus'' gene nomenclature was updated to follow the names of human orthologs as assessed by Xenbase and NCBI, from ''ebf4'' to ''ebf1’’.

This changed is supported by synteny. Apparently these genes were misannoataed in the v10 (and earlier?) genome releases.

True EBF4 orthologs remain elusive, with Xnopus geens in the syntenic region mostly annoated with LOC#s.
In human  and mouse, SYNTENY IS:
TMC2> NOP56> IDH3B< '''EBF4'''> CPXM1< C20ORF141> TMEM239

nomenclature updates

18MAY2026

Xenopus gene nomenclature was updated to follow the names of human orthologs as assessed by Xenbase and NCBI, from ebf4 to ebf1’’.

TMC2> NOP56> IDH3B< EBF4> CPXM1< C20ORF141> TMEM239
