stat3.1 ( and stat3.2) are mainly activated during gastrulation, and is regulated by dscr6 , which inhibits methyaltion.

stat3 methylation is involved in axis formation ( activation causes ventralization, and inactivation causes dorsalization of Xenopus embryos)

ezh2 positively regulates stat3 methylation.
