the synonym mdc has been removed from the adam11 gene page as it was causing misassiocations with literature.

mdc is an abbreviation for a somewhat commonly used reagent, monodansylcadaverine, and for 'mature dendritic cells' (mDCs)

the Xmdc11 synonym is still good, and Xenopus researcher will no doubt use adam11 and not mdc in any new articles because they all use the most up-to-date nomenclature for their genes!
