cupin1.2
There's a complex evolutionary history of a set of genes including those previously called DYNAP in the region between C18orf54 and RAB27b.
After review from HGNC and NCBIs refSeq Team, LOC112441476 (cow), LOC106780934 (horse) and LOC102154335 (dog) were named CUPIN1. LOC116186940 (cat) should also be named CUPIN1. NB:L monkeys and apes have lost the CUPIN1 gene.
In Xenopus, there is cupin1 found on chromosome 1/1L/1S, and an adjacent duplicated gene cupin1.2 on chromosome 1/1L
CUPIN1 is the name decided on to use for the ancestral, vertebrate, 9-exon gene with an N-terminal CLLAC domain and a C-terminal bicupin_oxalic domain (or two CUPIN_1 domains).
CUPIN1 encodes roughly 470 aa. The CUPIN1 gene is lost in human, mouse, and a variety of related primates and rodents. The DYNAP gene is mammal-specific and is sort of a remnant of the CUPIN1 gene that involved duplication as well as insertion of various exons or elements from elsewhere in the genome.
