nomenclature

06/27/2024 The gene symbol for XB-GENEPAGE-941063 was changed from lrrc19 to lrrc19l, given shared synteny with human LRRC19.

The true LRRC19 gene sequence in human is located in the intronic region of the IFT74 gene, which is flanked by TEK and CAAP1 genes. This same synteny pattern is observed in a different gene in Xenopus on chromosome 1 (X.tropicalis NCBI ID:100491155, XB-GENEPAGE-29080546). This (XB-GENEPAGE-941063) now re-named lrrc19l ("leucine rich repeat containing 19 like") gene in Xenopus is instead flanked by the tie1 and mpl genes on one side and tmem125 and cfap57 genes on the other side; This region was examined in humans, and while a syntenic locus was identified, the gene in that position did not blast or align well with this lrrc19l gene in Xenopus, suggesting it is not represented in humans.
