gene nomenclature & synteny

There are 3 named Xenopus cyp46a1 genes, a tadem duplication , cyp46a1.1, cyp46a1.2, cyp46a1.3, all on chr8 [Chr8:90631914..90931414 ], in this gene pattern ccdc85c< hhipl1> cyp46a1.1, cyp46a1.2, cyp46a1.3 mia2> fbxo33<

There is another cyp46a1-like gene duplication, also on Chr8, which we are giving the following names: cyp46a1.1l, cyp46a1.2lp (the p suffix as it is a pseudogene) and cyp46a1.3l .

These extra cyp46a1-like genes, seems to be a duplication of the duplication, and is only seen in the X.tropicalis and does not appear in Human, mouse or X. laevis.
