this gene may or may not be the true orthologue of the human gene, so is currently assigned a 'like' designation. This issue is currently under review by Xenbase curators.

NCBI recognizes X. tropicalis gsg1l (309aa ) as the true ortholog of human GSG1L (331aa), and this is supported by protein architecture, and synteny as the upstream flanking genes are conserved x-species.
