nomenclature changes

25FEB2025

Following recommendation from NCBIs RefSeq ( see RSCOM-705 XB-GENE-920159 (siglec15) and XB-GENE-29094063 (LOC116408355)), the name of this gene has changed from LOC116408355 to sialic acid binding Ig like lectin 15 like.

RefSeq Curators noted the NCBI assertion that the X.trop LOC116408355, sitting adjacent to slc14a2, is the best candidate for human SIGLEC15 ortholog.

BLAST of the Xtrop protein XP_031750988 against X. laevis identfies GeneID 108705512 = 'LOC108705512 sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 15' on chr1S (90% identical) , and on chr1L, uncharacterized LOC108695899 (91% identical) as best matches.

These 2 X. laevis genes are also adjacent to slc14a2 et al on Chr1S/L respectively, so synteny also support these genes as orthologs of the true siglec15, and were placed here on XB-GENEPAGE-29094062.
