nomenclature updates

14MAY2026

Xenopus gene nomenclature was updated to follow the names of human orthologs as assessed by NCBI, calca, calcitonin-related polypeptide alpha to calcb, calcitonin-related polypeptide beta .

Synteny supports this change as the CALB mammalian genes read in same direction as frog CALCB genes.

Note that Xenopus therefore does not have calca/L/S genes.

Note that Chick also had their ‘Calcb’ gene annotated as ‘Calca’. This is will evenetually be updated we hope!
