There is a bit of confusion about the cfap54 genes in Xenopus when comparing different genome assemblies. The true CFAP54 orthologs reside adjacent to CDK17, and there is only 1 in each of Xtrop v9.1, Xtr v10, Xla.v10 and Xla v9.2, from NCBI/JGI and Ensembl. However in earlier annotations, Xtrop v7.1 there were 2 gene models- called c12orf55 and c12orf63, following the human ORF names, while only 1 model in Xlaevis. c12orf63(.L) on scaffold 18184. No cfap54 models are seen on the 3S chromosome.

The human gene CFAP54 has both C12orf55 and C12orf63 as synonyms/aka.

On Xenbase XB-GENEPAGE-6468174, we have X.tropicalis cfap54 and X. laevis cfap54.L models, and XB-GENEPAGE-6045343 with the v7.1 X. tropicalis model c12orf63, which we have named cfap54.2 to hopefully clarify the situation.
