parp14l

This is the community wiki page for the gene parp14l please feel free to add any information that is relevant to this gene that is not already captured elsewhere in Xenbase.

nomenclature changes

21FEB2025

this gene changed names from 'parp14.3 to parp14l , poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase family, member 14 like gene 1

gene model annotation notes

We note here that Xenopus have 6 tandemly duplicated parp14 genes in both X. trop [chr9] and X. laevis [chr9_10L]

With synteny evidence, we consider this the true tandem duplication series, represented on XB-GENEPAGE-29091266 and other XB-GPs.

In comparison, there are 2 tandem parp14 genes [previously also annotated at 'parp14.3] on chr1/1L.

However the protein is not characterized in EggNogg6.0 and thus has no identified homology group, and given NCBI machine annotation considered them a parp14 genes, we have changed nomenclature from parp14.3 ( a symbol already in use for the gene on chr9/10) to parp14l (gene1), and parp14l.2(gene2) to indicate the lack the shared synteny and that these genes may be/likely are a Xenopus-specific duplication/translocation.

Synteny

Vertebrates have a large PARP (Poly ADP Ribose Polymerase) gene family.

PARP14 synteny is fairly well conserved through Osteichthyes (fishes).

In tetrapods it resided at:

ESYT3> CEP70< FAIM> PARP9< DTX3L> PARP15> PARP14> LMLN> gpd1< OSBPL11> SNX4>

but in ( mammals and marsupials) PARP14 got inserted at:

IQCB1< SLC15A2> ___ HSPBAP1< SLC49A4> SEMA5B<

to form: IQCB1< SLC15A2> PARP9< DTX3L> PARP15> PARP14> HSPBAP1< SLC49A4> SEMA5B<

Here are the remnant synteny blocks for therians ( mammals and marsupials) :

ESYT3> CEP70< FAIM> PIK3CB<FOXL2< FOX2NB> PRR23A<

LRCH3> IQCG< RPL35A> LMLN> OSBPL11> SNX4>
