Based on protein sequnece similarity and synteny, the gene name has changed from stk35 , serine/threonine kinase 35 to stk35l, serine/threonine kinase 35 like.
REfSeq curators ( see RSCOM-699 stk35 and stk35l in X. tropicalis) brought this to our attention, and we agree that "synteny and protein sequence similarities compared to human STK35 suggest that the gene symbols should be swapped in X. tropicalis.". "BLAST human STK35 NM_080836 against the X. tropicalis genome, the top hit is on chr 10 (GeneID: 100497495). Human STK35 is downstream of PDYN on chr 20. In X. tropicalis, pdyn is on chr 10 so I think the nomenclature for GeneID: 100497495 on chr 10 should probably be updated from stk35l to stk35."
XB-GENEPAGE-5853373 has been renamed, and now is the umbrella gene page for stk35l representing Xenopus genes on chr5/5S. STK35 orthologs have been moved to XB-GENEPAGE-956055, which has been renamed stk35, representing Xenopus genes on chr10/9_10L
