Hi HGNC,
Hi HGNC,

I'd like your input on a PTTG1IP-like gene that is inconsistently annotated and named.
The paralogous gene, PTTG1IP, is consistently found upstream of the SUMO3 gene in Osteichthyes and this PTTG1IP-like gene is consistently found upstream of the CDK14 gene in Osteichthyes. However, in mammals this PTTG1IP-like gene is sometimes unannotated or is annotated as non-coding or as protein coding. I'm confident this PTTG1IP-like gene is protein coding throughout Osteichthyes. So, I'd like your input on what it should be named (pituitary tumor-transforming gene 1 protein-interacting protein probably isn't appropriate).

I'd appreciate it if the curators at MGI, RGD, and Ensembl could look at this PTTG1IP-like gene and confirm that it's protein coding.

nomenclature update

04.30.2020

Following discussion with HGNC and NCBI RefSeq, name change from and 'unnamed' PTTG1IP-like gene to "PTTG1IP family member 2", gene symbol "PTTG1IP2" in human. In Xenopus therefore, "PTTG1IP family member 2", gene symbol "pttg1lp2"
