nomenclature change

30.04.2020

This gene name has changed from 'ras homolog gene family, member G (rho G) like', with gene symbol: rhogl to: RHOG family member 2, with gene symbol rhog2

Background to nomenclature change:

In addition to the canonical RHOG gene (HGNC:672), gnathostomes have another RHOG-like gene which has conserved synteny except for its loss within primates and rodents. Zfin calls it rhogc (ZDB-GENE-030131-3402; Gene ID: 324681) while Xenbase calls it rhogl (XB-GENE-493450; GeneID: 100216282).

PMID: 15894457 may have been the source of the D. rerio rhoga, rhogb, and rhogc symbols.

After discussion, with HGNC and other model organism databases, this gene name has changed for Xenopus from 'ras homolog gene family, member G (rho G) like', with gene symbol: rhogl to: RHOG family member 2, with gene symbol rhog2.

15June 2020

Human symbol has changed for genepage ID: 5997925 From rhog2 to RHOG2P

Human RHOG2 has been recognized as a psuedogene ,therefore RHOG2P

Leave this gene name unchanged in Xenopus as the P designates as a psuedogene in human.
