based on below analysis, the X. laevis.L model that was repreviously identified and called cyp2a6.12, is now thought to be the cyp2a6.11.L paralog, and has been (will soon be) moved to cyp2a6.11 XB-genepage-22064352, along with the newly annotated X.trop gene, LOC116406635.

31JAN2023 The cyp2a6 genes in Xenopus have undergone a series of tandem duplication events, resulting in at least 15 duplicated genes.
All genes in the cyp2a6 gene family are found on Chr8/8L/8S in Xenopus, and are flanked by rab4b and egin2 nominally upstream, and axl and olfm4 downstream.
Based on synteny, protein alignment and phylogenetic analyses (COBALT run RID XJNBG46W212 (36 seqs)) of the protein coding sequences for all the v10 gene models annotations, several v10 gene models have been added to the cyp2a6 Xenbase gene pages, and 2 more duplications have been identified between cyp2a6.1 and axl in X. tropicalis. To preserve the currenting naming scheme, and thus to avoid confusion, these newly annotated gene models will be called cyp2a6.14 and cyp2a6.15. A 3rd newly annotated homologous alleles in Xtrop (MGC69353) and X.laevis.L (LOC108698627) are a cytochrome p450-related or cytochrome p450-like protein, according to DIOPT/EggNog homology grouping, but don't appear to be cyp2a6 family members.
