nomenclature history

22January2026

The Xenopus genes on this page XB-GENEPAGE-29084198 were renamed, changing to irs2 from LOC100498409 , LOC108708462 , LOC108709741, following synteny evidence. These are the true irs2 orthologs on Chr2/2L/2S. Also we moved /added the HMRZC orthologs here (removing them from the irs2l page).

The 'irs2-like' genes are on the tips of Chr3/3L. I can not find no gene model for irsl.S, but LOC108703422, a very small pseudogene (1,639bp), may be a candidate.
