Annotation notes

Xenopus opnpt, parietopsin genes are annotated to the v10 genomes in both X. tropicalis and X. laevis.

Regarding Xenopus laevis opnpt.S, parietopsin S homeolog:

​​​​​​​In the previous v9.2 genome assembly, Xenopus laevis opnpt.S, parietopsin S homeolog was annotated as a 6,080 bp protein coding gene. In  the current X. laevis  v10.0 assembly, this gene (Gene ID: 108713178)  is annotated as a pseudogene, thus the gene symbol changed to opnptp.S with the last 'p' indicating a pseudogene. There does not seem to be any RNA-Seq data supporting expression of the loci in tadpole eye or adult eye tissues (like opsin generally are), so we tend to agree with the 'pseudogene' status of this stretch of sequence.
