This is the community wiki page for the gene b3galt2l please feel free to add any information that is relevant to this gene that is not already captured elsewhere in Xenbase.

nomenclature changes

01/12/2016 Human name has changed for Entrez Gene: 8707. From UDP-Gal:betaGlcNAc beta 1,3-galactosyltransferase, polypeptide 2 to Beta-1,3-galactosyltransferase 2

12/30/19 Based on a report by David Webb at NCBI, this gene has been renamed b3galt2-like, as it is not the true orthologue of human B3GALT2.

Xenopus b3galt2-like] is 1 of 9 b3galt2l genes just downstream of the ilf3 gene on chromosome 3.

Most reptiles and amphibians and basal mammals also have b3galt2-like genes, (eg.g, Entrez gene ID:115080934] but the genes seem to be frequently lost. or unannotated.
